Funeral services for Ronald Wickman, 69, of Rodman will be 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the Chapel of Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.
Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, near Rodman.
Ronald Wayne Wickman was born Oct. 23, 1941, in Emmetsburg, the son of Ralph and Bertha (McQuown) Wickman. He attended Rodman Community Schools.
On Aug. 21, 1961, Ron was united in marriage to Dianne Henely in Ayrshire. The couple lived in Rodman where they raised their children.
Ron worked in carpentry, owned gravel trucks with his brothers, and worked road construction. He then worked for the Palo Alto County Secondary Road Department in Cylinder for over 24 years before retiring. He was a member of the Rodman Volunteer Fire Department. Ron was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He also liked to play cards with friends. Most of all, Ron loved to spend time with his family and friends.
On Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, Ron passed away at his daughter's home near Marathon. He left this world in time to join his wife, Dianne, in heaven to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary which was on Sunday, August 21, 2011.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Tammy Watts and her husband, Bill of Marathon and Kenny Wickman and his wife, Danette of Kirkland, WA; three brothers: Mervin of Britt, Larry of Emmetsburg, and John of Central City; four grandchildren: Seth Sonksen and his significant other, April Beiter; Mollie Clark and her husband, McKee; Gabriela Wickman and Mckenna Wickman; and two great-granddaughters: Mara Clark and Callie Clark.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Dianne; son, Timothy; parents; and three brothers: Ralph, Jr., Darrel and Jerry.
