Phyllis Henrikson, 90, of Emmetsburg, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at PARC Hall in Emmetsburg, where she had been a resident for the past two years.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Sept. 24 at 2:30 pm in Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. The Rev. David Biddle will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather at the home of Jan and John Schad, 601 Palmer, Emmetsburg, following the service.
Phyllis Henrikson was born Feb. 2, 1921, the daughter of John Weston James Owens and Mable Hanson Owens at Jefferson. She graduated from high school in 1938.
She married Robert Powell on Feb. 21, 1941, and the couple farmed at Yale and Collins, IA, before moving to Emmetsburg in 1955. Robert Powell died May 23, 1958.
In July of 1959 Phyllis married Harold Henrikson, who died Sept. 11, 1991.
Preceding Phyllis Henrikson in death were her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include a daughter, Jan Powell Schad (John) of Emmetsburg and three step-children, Alan Henrikson (Pam) of Wellesley MA, Mary Henrikson Runneberg (Jerry) of Laurens, and Jane Henrikson Mack (Cliff) of Dallas TX; three grandchildren, John Schad III (Lori) and Peggy Schad Stolley (Andy) of Emmetsburg and Jeanne Schad (John Nestor) of Venice Beach, CA., seven step grandchildren, Jeff Runneberg of Fairfax, VA, Peter Runneberg of Laurens, Dan Runneberg of Des Moines, Katy Henrikson (Juan Pablo), and Christopher (Suzannah) Henrikson of Santa Monica CA, Kristen Mack and Amy Mack Longoria (Brian) of Dallas TX, 10 step-great grandchildren, three sisters, one brother, and three sisters-in-law.
Memorial contributions may be made to PARC Hall in Emmetsburg.
