A Mass of Christian Burial for Alberta E. Hoadley was held Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. Celebrant was the Rev. Clem Currans.
Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.
Alberta Elizabeth Hoadley, daughter of William and Harriet (Kingery) Wiwi, was born Jan. 4, 1921 in Effingham, IL. She was educated in Illinois and Iowa school systems.
Following high school, Alberta attended the Bowman School of Music in Chicago, where she was a student of the Spanish guitar and the Hawaiian steel guitar. Alberta enjoyed playing and sharing her music for many years.
On Sept. 20, 1940 Alberta was united in marriage to Walter Thomas Hoadley of Fenton. They farmed in the Fenton area until Walter retired in 1969.
After Walter's death in February 1994, Alberta moved to Ruthven, where she lived until she moved to PARC Hall in 2006.
Alberta passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at PARC Hall in Emmetsburg at the age of 90.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; seven sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by a sister, Bernadine Gappa of Ruthven and several nieces and nephews.
