A Mass of Christian Burial for Steven Theesfeld of Ayrshire was held Monday, Oct. 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ayrshire. The Rev. Clem Currans and the Rev. Peter Nguyen were concelebrants.

Stephen Thomas Theesfeld, son of Harold and Thelma (Spear) Theesfeld, was born Jan. 3, 1951, in Estherville. He graduated from Mallard High School in 1970. During high school and after graduation, Steve did construction work for Bob Brennan.
On Feb. 5, 1972, Steve was united in marriage to Debra Henely at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ayrshire. To this union three sons were born.
Steve was employed at John Deere Implement in Laurens and later G.T.E. Telephone in Hartley. He then returned to Palo Alto County where he began farming and trucking.
Steve was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ayrshire. He was also a member of the Owners and Operators Independent Driver's Association.
Steve loved farming, especially harvesting his crops and taking care of his garden. He loved every minute he was able to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren. Steve and Deb had purchased a home in Arizona last winter and he was looking forward to returning this winter.
Steve will be remembered for his fondness of any vehicle, as long as it had a Ford emblem on it. He also was always ready to join his friends at the local St. Mic's.
Steve was very proud of his Farmall antique tractor collection and was always making sure his equipment and vehicles were detailed to perfection. Steve had a great sense of humor and enjoyed sharing that with friends and family.
Steve passed away Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at the age of 60.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dennis.
He is survived by his wife, Debra of Ayrshire; his sons, Jeremy Theesfeld and his wife, Melissa of Emmetsburg, Chad Theesfeld and his wife, Stacey of Emmetsburg, and Corey Theesfeld of Spencer; four grandchildren, Alex, Olivia, Emily and Madison; two brothers, Gerald Theesfeld and his wife, Patty of Curlew and Robert Theesfeld of Spencer; two sisters, Catherine Kirschbaum and her husband, John of Spencer and Margaret Joynt of Spencer; two aunts, Dorothy Theesfeld of Estherville and Colleen Boucher of Estherville; two uncles, William Spear of Colorado and Duane Theesfeld of Independence, MO.
