Funeral services for Ardus Barrick of Emmetsburg and formerly of Cylinder will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg.
Burial is in Rush Lake Cemetery. The Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.
Ardus was born June 9, 1920, in Mallard, the daughter of Art and Luella (Price) Thompson. She attended Mallard Schools before moving to the Cylinder area where she made her permanent home.
Ardus was united in marriage to Raymond Barrick in 1962 at Des Moines. The couple farmed north of Cylinder.
Ardus was an assistant cook at the Senior Center for several years, and she later owned and operated the Chuckwagon Caf in Cylinder until her retirement. Following her retirement, Ardus continued to manage the family farm. She enjoyed flowers and cooking, and she loved life.
On Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, Ardus passed away at Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg, at age 91.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Monte Schuller (Charlene) of Ruthven, Del Schuller (Lynn) of Yoncalla, OR, and Randy Schuller of Cylinder; two step-children: Bonnie Whitney (Bill) of Emmetsburg and Denny Barrick (Mary) of Ruthven; four grandchildren: Mickey Stonewall (Ken), Pam Schwers, Tony and Erin Schuller and Tasha Schuller; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Jessica Schuller; brother and sister-in-law, Lavern and Fran Thompson; and her nephew, Steve Thompson.
