RUTHVEN -- Funeral service for Maureen A. Weir of Ruthven was Saturday, Nov. 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Clem Currans officiated.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven was in charge of arrangements.
Maureen Audrey Gleason was born Aug. 4, 1921, to Raymond and Mina (Olsen) Gleason in Ruth-ven. She attended school there graduating in 1938.
Maureen married A.J. (Tiny) Weir on June 18, 1941, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ruthven.
Maureen and Tiny lived in the Southern United States during WWII. In 1946, they moved to Ayrshire where they ran a Mobile Gas station. In 1954, they purchased a farm east of Graettinger and later moved to Sioux Valley, MN. They retired from farming in 1974 and moved to Harris where they both worked at the Sather's Co-okie Company until 1985.
Maureen passed away Monday, Nov.21, 2011, at the Ruthven Community Care Center. She was 90.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and brothers, Frank, Joseph, Raymond, Jr. and Edmund, Sr.
She is survived by three children, Don Weir of Wickenburg, AZ, Mari Crost of Orange County, CA, Denny (Paula) Weir of Piedmont, OK; three grandchildren, Nicole Hyham, Kendra Turner and Michele Howe; two great grandsons; two great granddaughters; a sister, Mary Beth "Betty" Grady of Lynwood, WA; a brother, Tom Gleason of Pleasanton, CA; sisters-in-law, Peg Gleason of Charles City, and Helen Veronica Weir of Minneapolis, MN; brother-in-law, Ralph Weir of Algona; and many nieces and nephews.
