RUTHVEN - A re-match with the defending State Champions didn't turn out well for the Ruthven-Ayrshire/Graettinger-Terril boys basketball team last Tuesday night. The Raiders lost an 80-32 decision to Storm Lake St. Mary's in a non-conference tilt in Ruthven.
"Their press led to our downfall," noted RA/GT Head Coach Randy Hough. "We had way too many turnovers. I think the players were extremely nervous playing the defending state champions."
The two teams are no strangers, as Ruthven-Ayrshire met up with St. Mary's last season in a district championship game that had much the same outcome as Tuesday's game.
