Emmetsburg's E-Hawks earned a trio of individual titles but ended up with a fourth place finish in their own invitational wrestling tournament on Saturday.
Coach Jared Pickett's grapplers were led by the championship efforts of Justin Studer at 145 pounds, Brady Bailey at 152 pounds and Tayler Wegner at 195 pounds.
The E-Hawks also got second place finishes from Tyler Leuer at 132 pounds and from Andrew Garrelts at 285 pounds, while Brett Steinkamp earned a third place finish at 106 pounds and Alex Clark earned a sixth place finish in action at 113 pounds.

With five open weights across their roster, the E-Hawks put up a tough battle in their matches during the day against eventual champions Humboldt, along with Fort Dodge, Estherville Lincoln Central, Okoboji, Storm Lake, Central Lyon/ George-Little Rock, LeMars and Odebolt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove.
For senior Justin Studer, the 145 pound title chase started with a :47 win by fall over Skyler Gries of LeMars in the first round and then a 10-2 major decision win over Colton Schnetzer of Humboldt in the semi-finals. Studer would meet Pat Billings of OA/BC-IG in the championship match and earned the crown with a 1:27 win by fall.
At 152 pounds, Brady Bailey started his day with a 3:31 win by fall over Cody Louscher of Okoboji and followed up with a 2:22 win by fall over Tyler Rutz of Humboldt. For the championship, Bailey scored a 3:44 win by fall over Aaron Howing of Estherville Lincoln Central to win his E-Hawk Invite crown.
Tayler Wegner also pinned his way through the tournament at 195 pounds, starting with a :55 fall over Riley Prescott of Fort Dodge and following up with a 2:35 win by fall over Jayson Edge of Humboldt. Meeting Travis VanDer Streek of CL/G-LR, Wegner needed just :45 to earn his first E-Hawk championship.
At 132 pounds, Tyler Leuer capped off his first week back on the mats with a runner-up finish for the E-Hawks. Leuer opened the day with a 1:37 win by fall over Chris Haman of LeMars, and then pinned Dane Trieber of OA/BC-IG to move to the finals. In the final match, Leuer lost a 12-0 major decision to Brance Simms of Humboldt for the second place finish.
Senior Andrew Garrelts earned a runner-up finish at 285 pounds after starting the day with a first-round bye. Garrelts collected a 4:58 win by fall over Alex Postma of CL/G-LR in the semi-finals, but in the final, a wild scramble with Gabe Bonner of ELC would see Garrelts put the ELC?grappler on his back, only to be reversed and pinned in 1:48 to finish in second place.
Emmetsburg got a third place finish from Brett Steinkamp in action at 106 pounds. Steinkamp started the day with a :36 win by fall over Dustin Behrendsen of OA/BC-IG, but was pinned at the 4:42 mark of the semi-final round by Zach Brashears of Storm Lake. Moving to the consolation bracket, Steinkamp pinned Tyler Groat of Humboldt in just :22 to meet Erik Birnbaum of Fort Dodge in the Consolation final, where he scored a 1:32 win by fall to earn the third place finish.
Freshman Alex Clark drew a first-round bye at 113 pounds, but was pinned in :52 of his semi-final match by Dylan Tornabane of Storm Lake. Clark would lose a 16-4 major decision to Cole Budach of ELC in the consolation semis and wrestled Tyler Carlson of LeMars for fifth place, only to be pinned in 5:14 of the match to finish sixth.
At 120 pounds, Jacob Miller would lose his first round match in a 1:06 fall to Juan Figueroa of Storm Lake. In the consolation quarterfinal, Miller was pinned by Mike Madsen of Humboldt and was eliminated from placing.
Emmetsburg's Caige Elbert, started his tournament meeting Blake Gjerde of ELC in the first round and was pinned by Gjerde in :26 of the match. Moving to the consolation quarterfinal, Elbert wrestled Taylor Cody of Okoboji but was pinned in :58 to be eliminated from placing in the tournament.
