ESTHERVILLE? - After being postponed before Christmas, the Raiders of Ruthven-Ayrshire/Graettinger-Terril made the trip to Estherville to take on the Midgets of ELC Monday night. The meeting didn't turn out as hoped for by the Raiders, as they would fall to the Midgets by a 72-54 final tally.
Despite a bit of a slow start by the Raiders, they fought the Midgets all the way through the first quarter to trail 25-12 at the end of the stanza. The Raiders would continue to fight for every bucket against ELC through the second quarter, and trailed 40-27 at the intermission.
GT/RA would come out in the third quarter and continued to play deliberate offense, but the Midgets had built a 52-43 lead to start the final quarter, and the Raiders could come no closer than the 72-54 final tally.
Ruthven-Ayrshire/Graettinger-Terril's offense was led by Austin Dyer with 13 points, while Carter Williamson added 11 tallies. Mitch Girres scored 10 points and Colin Leiting added eight. Dylan Fischer and Garrett Parker would both score four points, while Connor Sturgil added three points and Damon Morris chipped in a free throw.
The loss gives the Raiders a mark of 4-9 overall as they play NSKAR on Friday at Fenton.
