Hosting the Wolfpack of Western Christian on Tuesday night, Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks knew they'd be in for a battle. Their intuition was correct, as Western Christian claimed a 87-44 win over Emmetsburg, giving the Lady E-Hawks a mark of 4-8 in the Lakes Conference and 9-9 overall on the season.
The Lady E-Hawks got off to a slow start as Western Christian quickly jumped out to a 12-3 lead and stretched out to take a 21-10 advantage at the end of the first quarter of play. Emmetsburg continued to struggle with turnovers created by Western Christian's tough defense, along with their speed.
The Wolfpack was able to get back on defense and steal passes and quickly transition downcourt to score off the opportunities to earn a 48-21 lead at the halftime break.

The Lady E-Hawk offense would come out in the second half and played with more energy, as they matched their first half scoring in the third quarter, nearly matching Western Christian's offensive production at 15-16, but still trailed by a 64-30 margin to start the final quarter.
Emmetsburg's offense continued to work hard in the final stanza, matching Western Christian bucket for bucket to score 14 points, but it was simply too late as the Wolfpack took the 78-44 final.
Paige Naig led Emmetsburg with 24 points, while Hadley Egland and Alexa Naig both added six points each. Ashton Connelly scored five points, with Kaity Degen adding two points and Faith Schmidt making a free throw.
