Carol Jean Nunamaker, daughter of John and Charlotte Pettiecord, was born June 26, 1949, in Emmetsburg. She attended school in Emmetsburg, graduating from Emmetsburg High School in 1967. Following high school, Carol attended beauty school and graduated from Larson's School of Hairstyling in Spencer.

She was employed at a beautician for a short time and then began helping her father with the garbage business in Emmetsburg. She later took over the business and operated it herself. Carol was also employed at Berkley's for several years.

On March 29, 1982 Carol was united in marriage to Norman Nunamaker in Spencer. Carol worked at the K-Mart store in Fairmont, MN helping get it stocked and prepared to open when it was new.

Carol was a wonderful baker and especially enjoyed making breads and trying new recipes. Whenever she and Norman went somewhere she always shared her baking with others. Even recently, when she had undergone chemo-therapy, Carol always baked bars or cookies to take to the nurses. She also enjoyed her flower gardens. Carol will be remembered for her giving and caring nature and the happiness that she radiated to all of those around her.

Carol passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, in Man-kato, MN at the age of 62.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Norman of Truman, MN; her godchild, Kaycee Matheason of Estherville; as well as many other relatives and countless friends.
