Funeral service for former Ayrshire resident Florine Fischer of Carroll was held Friday, March 3, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll.
Florine Wuebker Fischer, daughter of Joseph J. and Viola (Tacke) Wuebker, was born July 23, 1932, in Carroll. In 1940 the family moved to Ayrshire and she attended country school and Sacred Heart Grade School through the 10th grade. She then graduated from St. Angela's Academy in 1951. Florine worked at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville before returning to Carroll where she worked at Pauline's Cafe, St. Anthony Hospital and the Burke Hotel.
On Sept. 8, 1962, Florine and Dennis Fischer were married at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Carroll. In 1964 she graduated from Thompson's Beauty Culture School in Des Moines. From 1964 to 1979, Florine worked as a beautician at the Beauty Bar in Manning.
After the death of her husband in 1990, Florine worked at Tony's Restaurant and the Carroll Day Care Center until her retirement. Florine was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Legion of Mary and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends and family.
In 2010 she moved to Sunnybrook in Carroll. On Feb. 26, 2012, Florine passed away at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll at the age of 79.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters Norma Jean and husband Paul Ocken and Donna Mae and husband Don Willeke.
Florine is survived by her brothers, Merlin and Rita Wuebker of Milford; Robert and Bonnie Wueb-ker of Emmetsburg; Bill and Colleen Wuebker of West Bend; Dr. Ralph and Margie Wuebker of Dallas, TX; and Jim and Stella Wuebker of Rochester, MN; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
