GRAND ISLAND, NE --John M. Tobin, 76, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center, Grand Island, NE.
Celebration of Life Service was Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. The Reverend Dr. Scott Taylor officiated. Burial was in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Marine Corp and the United Veterans Honor Guard.
John was born Jan. 30, 1936 at Bancroft the son of John J. and Jessie (Boeckhold) Tobin. He was raised and received his education at Emmetsburg. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1953-1956. On Nov. 1, 1958 he was united in marriage to Linda Shriner.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Linda; son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Kim Tobin of Lincoln, NE and daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Rod Barnes of Crete, NE; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Paul Schnell of Ruthven, Pricilla and Dale Zaugg of Emmetsburg and Kathleen Tobin of Rockford, IL; sister-in-law, Ruth Tobin of Lewisville, Texas; grandchildren, Clifton, Andrew, Carl Jr., Jesse and Christopher Tobin and Troy and his wife Ashley Barnes and Brandie Barnes and thirteen great-grandchildren.
His parents; sisters and brothers, Mabel Smith, Dorothy Conlon, Jim Tobin and Roger Tobin preceded him in death.
