Today is the first day to vote an absentee ballot for the Primary Election at the Palo Alto County Auditor's Office.
Beginning Thursday, April 26, eligible voters may vote in person at the Auditor's Office Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The last day to vote absentee at the County Auditor's Office is Monday, June 4, at 5 p.m.
Eligible voters may request an absentee ballot by mail by completing the "State of Iowa Official Absentee Ballot Request Form" and mail to the Palo Alto County Auditor, P.O. Box 95, Emmetsburg, IA 50536. Forms can also be picked up at the Auditor's Office or you can call 712-852-2924 to have a form sent to you. The form can also be found at www.sos.state.ia.us.
The following information is required to be completed on the Absentee Ballot Request Form: date of birth, name and address, date of election and party affiliation. Voters must declare their party affiliation to be able to vote in the Primary Election.
Saturday, May 26, is the last day to pre-register to vote for the Primary Election. The Palo Alto County Auditor's Office will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. for voter registration and absentee voting.
Saturday, June 2, the Palo Alto County Auditor's Office will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for absentee voting, according to Carmen Moser, Palo Alto County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections
