Lady E-Hawk Golfers Split Recent Matches

Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawk golf squad split a pair of Lakes Conference matches in the past few days. On Tuesday, April 24, the Lady E-Hawks bested Estherville Lincoln Central and Hull Western Christian, but on Monday, Emmetsburg was edged by two strokes by Spencer, but defeated Algona.

In the Lakes triangular at Estherville on April 24, Emmetsburg's Taylor Knight claimed the meet medalist honors with a round of 47 as Emmetsburg won with a 210 to ELC's 215 and Western Christian's 244 tally.

Following Knight for the Lady E-Hawks was Ashley Pelzer with a 49, while Hannah VanOosbree added a round of 56. Paige Naig shot a round of 58, with Katie Ruiz shooting a 59 and Aleysha Schutz adding a 63.

In the junior varsity portion of the triangular, Emmetsburg tallied a 241, while Western Christian trailed by a stroke at 242 and ELC shot a 246.

For Emmetsburg Jacque Carlson shot a 56 and was followed by Katie Kassel with a 57. Staci Schmeling shot a 62, with Josie Wickman and Alison Gould both shooting 66 and Kaity Degen shooting a 71.

Monday afternoon the Lady E-Hawks were edged by two strokes by Spencer, falling 195-197, but defeated Algona, who shot a 202.

Taylor Knight would pace Emmetsburg again with a round of 42, while Ashley Pelzer shot a 49. Paige Naig carded a 52, with Hannah VanOosbree shooting a 54. Aleysha Schutz carded a 56 and Katie Ruiz shot a 64.

Spencer would win the JV match by a 217 tally, while Emmetsburg and Algona tied with 259 stroke scores. For the Lady E-Hawk JV, Katie Kassel shot a 59 and was followed by Jacque Carlson with a 64. Alison Gould shot a 65, while Josie Wickman carded a 71. Staci Schmeling shot a 75 and Kaity Degen carded a 77.

"Monday was by far our best round of the year,"?noted Emmetsburg Head Coach Ted Riley. "A few strokes here and there and we are right in the thick of things as the post season approaches."

Emmetsburg will make up an 18-hole tournament today (Thursday) at the Bishop Garrigan Invitational at Spring Valley in LuVerne.

Thursday's Lakes Conference dual with LeMars will be made up on Monday, May 7, as part of the Lakes Conference Girls Tournament, which will be played at Okoboji View Golf Course at West Okoboji.

Tee time for the Lakes Girls Tournament will be at 10 a.m.
