Emmetsburg's Junior Varsity E-Hawk squad is gaining valuable experience as their season progresses. JV?Coach Brett Hansen's squad went 2-2 in their first four contests of the season.
Against Bishop Garrigan, Emmetsburg won a 12-5 decision. Joe Jackson got the win , allowing five runs, four earned, off five hits with four walks and a strikeout.
The E-Hawks got three hits from Greg Wesley, and two hits each from Jacob Kibbie, Zach Anderson, Joe Jackson and Jacob Miller. Hits were added by Dillon VanOosbree, Aaron Bird and Nick Jackson.
The E-Hawks would then claim a 5-3 victory on the road against Okoboji's Pioneers at Milford. Dillon VanOosbree would earn the win on the mound, giving up three runs, two earned, off six hits, with four walks and six strikeouts.
For Emmetsburg, the offense was driven by hits from Jacob Kibbie, Zach Anderson, Greg Wesley, Joe Jackson, Luke Jackson and Will Jackson.
The young E-Hawks would go down in defeat to Spencer on the road for their first setback of the season by an 8-3 score. Joe Jackson went to 1-1 on the year on the mound, as he was charged with the loss by allowing eight runs, six of which were earned, off four hits, with seven walks.
The E-Hawk offense got a pair of hits from Dillon VanOosbree, while Joe Jackson, Greg Wesley and Cole Jackson all came up with hits in the effort.
Making the long road trip to LeMars, the young E-Hawks were handed a 7-5 setback in a hard-fought contest. Greg Wesley would make his debut on the mound and was tagged with the loss, allowing six runs, four earned, off five hits, with six walks while striking out eight batters.
Emmetsburg got just one hit in the contest from Dillon VanOosbree, who batted in two runs off his hit.
"I'm seeing lots of enthusiasm and improvement from the guys as the season is going on,"?noted Coach Hansen. "We are learning in each game."
