Once again, I take pen in hand and prepare to scribe words that may answer many of the unanswered questions of the ages.
These are questions that every man, woman and most children have asked at one time or another in their life. How do I know this?
Don't start on me that answer used to be the ultimate answer. Think about it when you were a child, you asked your mother or father for something and their answer was "No." You'd ask "but why?" with that whine in your voice, and the answer you got was "BECAUSE".
Going hand in hand with that answer was the logic of the parent "I brought you into this world, buddy and I can take you out."
Anyhow, I digress.
Why does the bottom half tank of gas go so much quicker than the top half?
Why does that item always fail right after the warranty expires?
Why do the ice cubes in the ice-maker always come out frozen together in massive clumps that won't come out of the chute?
Why is it when you wear white, you have to spill something on yourself?
Why do the batteries in your camera always go dead just as that once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity occurs?
What ever happened to Judge Crater?
Why is it that cold, refreshing ice cream treat on a 90+ degree day hurts so bad when the Brain Freeze thing kicks in?
Why can't I find my favorite pen? (Looking at my desk gives me that answer.)
Why is it when you look high and low for something, it's always the last place that you consider looking?
Why do so many politicians have to be so vindictive, dirty and greedy?
Why do we put up with them?
OK Those are just some wild abstract examples of questions of the ages. I'm sure everyone has some burning question that they would like an answer to, but you know, the people who truly know the answers aren't telling, because if they did, as the saying goes, they'd have to kill you, I guess.
Last week's Supreme Court decision on the constitutionality of "Obama Care" leaves many Americans confused, concerned and lacking confidence in our legislative and judicial branches of government, as well as the executive branch. Do they really care about "We, the People?"
Will things ever change in our government? One can hope so, but common sense tells me that I shouldn't hold my breath waiting for it I'm liable to turn either a very deep blue in color, or fall down and go boom.
