Emmetsburg's E-Hawks closed out their Lakes Conference campaign Monday night with a 9-5 revenge win over Storm Lake. The Senior Night victory improves the E-Hawks to 6-9 in the Lakes and 11-13 as they will wrap up the regular season Thursday night against Harris-Lake Park at Lake Park.
Storm Lake took the early lead on Monday, collecting a pair of solo home runs and scoring a third run off a pair of base hits to take a 3-0 lead in the top of the inning. Emmetsburg would put Brady Berkland on base off a single, only to have him thrown out at second off Jake Carlson's fielders' choice that would leave Carlson looking for a way home when the inning ended.
Storm Lake would go down in order in the top of the second and the E-Hawks came back to walk Greg Wesley to lead off, following that with a single by Joe Jackson, An error put Luke Jackson on base and brought Wesley home before a fielders's choice on Aaron Bird's at-bat allowed Joe Jackson to score when Luke Jackson was put out, but Bird was stranded when Berkland hit a fly ball to short to end the inning.

With their lead cut to 3-2, Storm Lake led off the third with a walk and an error, but a throw down and a pair of outs by the Emmetsburg defense left a Tornado at second base when the opportunity ended.
The E-Hawks led off the their half of the third with a single from Jake Carlson. A sac fly from Ryan Kliegl moved Carlson before a base hit from Taylor Wegner scored his teammate but left him stranded when the inning ended with a 3-3 tie.
The Tornadoes would strand a runner off an error in the fourth and the E-Hawks came up to bat.
Joe Jackson led off with a walk and took second off a sacrifice by Luke Jackson. Aaron Bird got on off a fielders' choice that took Joe Jackson out at third, but Brady Berkland rapped out a single before Jake Carlson punched a single to score Bird. A walk of Ryan Kliegl would load the bases before Taylor Wegner hit an RBI?single to scored Berkland.
Jake Jackson would step to the plate and pounded out a single that would bring both Carlson and Kliegl home before Greg Wesley's fly ball ended the inning with Emmetsburg holding a 7-3 advantage.
Storm Lake went down in order in the top of the fifth, but the E-Hawks would strand three runners when their half of the inning ended. The Tornadoes would go down in order in the top of the sixth as well, but in the bottom of the frame, Emmetsburg took one more ride.
Taylor Wegner took the first pitch from relief hurler Trey O'Brien and took it over the center field fence for a solo home run to lead off the at-bat. After a strikeout of Jake Jackson, Greg Wesley pounded out a single and stretched it out to take second base. A single from Joe Jackson followed and Wesley scored off a sac bunt by Luke Jackson before the inning ended.
Storm Lake would tally two runs in the top of the seventh off three walks and a single before starting pitcher Taylor Wegner was relieved by Jake Jackson. Jackson would issue a walk and got two strikeouts to end the threat for the win.
Taylor Wegner earned the win, going six and a third and facing 29 batters, giving up five runs, three earned, off six hits, including a pair of home runs, with four walks and seven strikeouts.
Emmetsburg's offense was led by the home run blast and two singles of Wegner, while Brady Berkland, Joe Jackson,and Ryan Kliegl all added two hits to the offense. Jake Jackson, Greg Wesley and Aaron Bird all added singles to the winning effort.
