Booster Club Golf Outing This Saturday

August 23, 2012
Dan Voigt , Emmetsburg News

The Second Annual Emmetsburg E-Hawk Booster Club Four-Person Best Shot Golf Tournament is set for this Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Five Island Golf Course in Emmetsburg. This year's golf outing will feature special honors for Jerry Strand, a long-time E-Hawk Athletics supporter and fan.

The tournament will open with a shot-gun start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The tournament will feature a nine-hole format with ribeye steak meal, grilled by the Palo Alto County Cattlemen at the conclusion along with awards ceremony.

Registration will take place at the clubhouse from 9 to 9:30 a.m. In case of rain, the event will be held on Sunday, August 26. Foursomes are not required. Individuals are welcomed and will be paired up with other golfers to enjoy the outing.

As an added inducement, any hole-in-one recorded during the tournament will earn the lucky golfer or golfers a Lifetime E-Hawk Athletics admission ticket.

The Board of Directors of the Emmetsburg E-Hawk Athletic Booster Club includes Co-Chairs Julie Elbert and Tony Stubbs, along with co-treasurers Rhonda Kliegl and Donna Garrelts, with Kim Kibbie serving as secretary. Also serving on the board are Kathy Jackson, Julie Dunlap, Tammy Naig and Jim and Stephanie Bird, along with new members Kristen Ruiz, Kori Huberty and Scott and Heather Wirtz.

Members of the Emmetsburg E-Hawk Booster Club assist the athletic programs with concession stand operations, ticket takers and other capacities throughout the school year.

Each year, Booster club memberships offer supporters of Emmetsburg athletic programs a chance not only to assist in the ongoing efforts of the student athletes, but also an opportunity for boosters to be recognized for their support. Through the yearly membership in the E-Hawk Booster Club, the monies raised are used to provide additional financial support to all athletic programs.

In the 2011-2012 school year, a donation of $11,940 was given to the Emmetsburg Community Schools Athletics Budget, which is used directly for the needs of the student athletes.
