MALLARD -- Funeral service for Phillip Kacmarynski was held Saturday, Sept. 1, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mallard. The Rev. Thomas Hart officiated.
Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Mallard. The Harris Funeral Home in Mallard was in charge of arrangements.
Phillip A. Kacmarynski, the son of John and Mary (Olson) Kacmarynski, was born May 28, 1929 in Mallard where he was raised and educated. He attended parochial school in Mallard and graduated from the Mallard High School in 1947. Phil served his country during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
On July 21, 1956, he was united in marriage with Deloris Spiess of Knoke, at St. Mary's Church in Mallard. The couple lived and farmed in the Rolfe area, retiring in 1999 and moving to Mallard in 2006.
Survivors include his wife Deloris, children: Julie (Brad) Johnson of Lakewood, CO, JoAnn (Clem) Kern of Hastings MN, and Jerome Kacmarynski of St. Joseph, MO; grandchildren: Derek and Cole Johnson, Kevin and Kelly Kern and Parish Kacmarynski; and great grandson Luca Kern.
Also surviving are siblings: Veronica Schmidt of Carroll, Isabel (Wayne) Smith of Jefferson, Mary Ann (Robert) Wagner of Estero, FL, John (Mary Jean) Kacmarynski of Sturgeon Bay, WI, and Patricia (Tom) Twait of Emmetsburg.
Phil was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mallard, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post of Mallard.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children Mary Esther and Mary Beth; and his brother Bernard.
