Funeral service for Robert E. Mullen of Emmetsburg is today, Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Louie Gallo will officiate.

Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. ?The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg.

Robert E. Mullen, son of Claude and Emma (Tice) Mullen, was born Feb.28, 1921, in Waucoma. He graduated from Ayrshire High School in 1938.

On Feb. 14, 1941, Bob was united in marriage to Ruth Olson in Spencer. After their marriage Bob and Ruth moved to a farm near Cylinder where Bob farmed.In 1956 they moved to Emmetsburg and Bob was employed as the manager of Sterling Lumber Company. He then started Mullen Steel Building.

Bob passed away Tuesday, Oct.30, 2012, at the Emmetsburg Care Center at the age of 91.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth on Feb. 26, 2011; two brothers, Bill Mullen and Leonard Mullen; and a sister, Norma Beddow.

He is survived by his children, Ronald Mullen and his wife, Judy of Emmetsburg, Janice Kischer and her husband, Karl of Spirit Lake, and L. James Mullen and his wife, Nohemi of Edinburg, TX; nine grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.
