Mabel W. Christensen was born Sept. 17, 1910, in White, SD, the daughter of John and Minnie (Miller) Wiener. The family moved to Iowa when Mabel was a child, and she attended Curlew Schools. Mabel worked as a waitress, and later she worked for a munitions plant during World War II.

She was united in marriage to Vincent Williams in Chicago. Following the war, the couple moved to Iowa where they farmed until retirement in 1963. Mabel lived on an acreage north of Emmetsburg for 25 years, and in 1994, she moved to Emmetsburg. Mabel spent her last four years in West Bend.

Mabel was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, and traveling with her sister, Lillian. She loved family get-togethers and reunions, and she loved to spend time caring for her yard and riding her case lawn tractor. Mabel donated countless hours for R.S.V.P. where she enjoyed working as a mentor for children. She always looked forward to visits from her nephew, Ivan Wiener.

On Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, Mabel passed away at the West Bend Care Center. She was 102 years old.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Vicki Bragg of Whittemore and Brian Williams (Cathy) of Wallingford; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons.
