Residents in the area are being invited to attend the Graettinger Holiday Stroll event, which is scheduled for Thursday evening, Dec. 6, on Graettinger's Main Street. The event is being sponsored by the Graettinger Business Club as a way of kicking off the holiday season.
The event will get underway in the central business district on Robins Avenue at 5 p.m. and will continue to 7 p.m. The various businesses along Graettinger's Main Street will be open during the event, featuring complimentary holiday treats and refreshments. High school and Middle School students from the Graettinger-Terril Schools music department will be providing holiday music on the street to serenade attendees of the event.
Along with holiday music, Dr. Nick Helmich of the Helmich Chiropractic Clinic will be sponsoring free train rides for children. The Business Club will also be offering horse drawn carriage rides for all ages, and ask for a donation of a non-perishable canned-food item to be donated to the Upper Des Moines Opportunity Food Pantry program.
It wouldn't be a holiday event without a visit from Santa Claus, and the jolly elf will be on hand, as he visits with children of all ages from a special spot at the Graettinger Public Library.
As part of the event, the Graettinger Business Club is sponsoring a drawing for a 32-inch flat screen television, along with a drawing for $100 in Graettinger Bucks. The drawing is set for 7 p.m. and winners need not be present to win. Drawing participants must be 18 years of age to participate. Tickets for the drawing are available at Graettinger Business Club members.
The Graettinger community welcomes everyone to enjoy a festive kick start to this holiday season at the Holiday Stroll on Thursday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. in downtown Graettinger.
