Patricia Deneen Underriner was born Jan. 20, 1928 to John "Sarsfield" and Viola (Lohnes) Deneen in Emmetsburg. Pat graduated from Emmetsburg Catholic High School and in1949 received her B.S.C degree from Briar Cliff College, where she met the love of her life, Paul Underriner. She loved her family, her beloved husband Paul, a good card game, her friends, a good laugh and anything Irish.

After earning her bachelor's degree, Pat taught high school business in both Cylinder and Emmetsburg, and on Sept. 8, 1951, she married Paul Joseph Underriner. They moved to Chicago Illinois, where Pat and Paul both worked while he attended Optometry school. Together, with their first child in hand, they moved to Rockwell City to set up an Optometric Practice and build a home for their eventual family of five children. Organized, well-read, and possessing a practical intelligence, Pat often engaged others in a lively discussion of politics, business, current events, and funny anecdotes. Her sense of humor will always be remembered.

The family wishes to send a heart-felt thanks for the kindness and loving attention from the staff at Porter Hospice at the Johnson Center in Centennial, CO.
