GRAETTINGER - The Titans of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire picked up a conference win Friday night but lost a non-conference contest on Saturday in boys basketball action.
On Friday, the Titans defeated Corwith-Wesley-LuVerne on the road by a 63-56 score, But on Saturday night, the Titans returned home and were defeated by the Midgets of Estherville Lincoln Central in a 55-30 decision.
On Friday, the Titans made the road trip to Corwith and got a solid effort in the 63-56 win over the Panthers.
With four players scoring in double figures, the Titans had good balance offensively.
Marcus Girres led the effort with 15 points, four rebounds and two assists, while Connor Sturgill scored 14 points with six rebounds and a pair of assists. Austin Dyer came away with 13 points, four rebounds and seven assists, while Andy Geelan chipped in 10 points with eight rebounds and eight assists.
Mason McGrauth had five points with three rebounds and two assists, while Trevor Hagedorn added four points with five rebounds and Noah Stukey scored two points and added two rebounds with one assist.
"For the most part, we played really well,"?noted GT/RA?Head Coach Randy Hough. "We will need to be more patient when we have the lead. Overall, I was pleased with the effort of the team."
On Saturday, the Titans returned home to host Estherville Lincoln Central in Graettinger but fell to the Midgets by a 30-55 tally.
Connor Sturgill led the effort with 10 points and nine rebounds, while Marcus Girres added nine points and an assist. Austin Dyer scored four points with six rebounds and three assists, while Andy Geelan added four points, three rebounds and two assists. Trevor Hagedorn rounded out the effort with three points, six rebounds and an assist.
"We were overmatched by a much more physical team,"?Coach Hough noted. "We did not take care of the basketball very well and we were very tired from the night before."
