Emmetsburg's E-Hawks crowned four champions in their own E-Hawk Invitational tournament Saturday, but ended up finishing in third place. The Dodgers of Fort Dodge would claim first place with newcomers St. Edmond of Fort Dodge finishing in second place.
Earning championships for Coach Jared Pickett's E-Hawks were Jake Miller at 120 pounds, Brady Bailey at 160 pounds, Andrew Wellik at 182 pounds and Austin McCartan at 195 pounds.
Nick Schany, wrestling at 170 pounds, and Taylor Wegner, wrestling at 220 pounds, both finished as the runners up at their weight classes.

Nick Merwald finished fourth for the E-Hawks at 126 pounds, while Dillon VanOosbree at 106 pounds, Caige Elbert at 145 pounds and Tanner Dahm at 285 pounds all finished in sixth for the E-Hawks on the day.
Jake Miller drew a first-round bye and then pinned Cole Budach of Estherville Lincoln Central in 2:30 in the semi-finals. For the championship match, Miller wrestled Cole Evans of Fort Dodge and earned his first title with a 3:32 win by fall.
In action at 160 pounds, Brady Baile earned a 1:03 win by fall over Ben Friedrichson of Central Lyon/George-Little Rock in the quarterfinals and then pinned Willie Moretz of Fort Dodge in :49 to earn a championship match. Meeting Austin Patrick of Storm Lake, Bailey earned the championship with a 1:07 win by fall.
Andrew Wellik would open his tournament at 182 pounds with a :28 win by fall over Jordan Broen of Central Lyon/George-Little Rock, and then claimed a :33 win by fall over Dillan Belt of LeMars. In the semi-finals, Wellik pinned Dillon Nelson of St. Edmond in :38 to earn the right to meet third-ranked Cash Wilcke of Odeboldt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove for the championship. The two wrestlers would battle to a 2-1 decision with Wellik earning the championship title.
At 195 pounds, Austin McCartan drew a first-round bye and then pinned Jacob Sauter of Okoboji in :18 during the semi-final match. McCartan would go on to face Riley Prescott of Fort Dodge in the championship match and earned the title with a 7-0 decision victory over the Fort Dodge grappler.
For Nick Schany, the day started with a :52 win by fall over Kyle Williams of LeMars in the quarterfinals. Schany then earned a 14-1 Major Decision victory over Noel Buenelos of Storm Lake to advance to the finals at 170 pounds against Duke Egli of Fort Dodge, but Egli would claim a 5-0 decision victory over Schany, giving the E-Hawk the second place finish.
Taylor Wegner, wrestling at 220 pounds, drew a first round bye and then pinned Jake Matthies of Odeboldt-Arthur/Battle Creek/Ida Grove in :23 to earn a finals meeting with Vinnie Harvey of St. Edmond. Harvey would defeat Wegner in an 8-1 decision giving the E-Hawk the runner-up finish.
At 126 pounds, Nick Merwald was pinned in his quarterfinal match with Kaleb Vanderpool of Okoboji in 3:59. In the consolation bracket, Merwald, won a 6-4 decision over Austin Sadler of Odeboldt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove.Merwald them won a 9-1 Major decision over Darren Eades of Storm Lake in the consolation semi-final that set up a re-match with Kaleb Vanderpool, who pinned Merwald in 5:43 to give Merwald the fourth place finish.
E-Hawk freshman Dillon VanOosbree was pinned in his first-round match in :53 by Fort Dodge's Erik Birnbaum. In the consolation bracket, VanOosbree pinned Easton Gifford of Estherville Lincoln Central in 1:45, but lost a 5-4 decision to Nic Madsen of LeMars in the consolation semi-final. VanOosbree would wrestle Brady Jones of Okoboji for fifth place, but was pinned in 1:15 to finish in sixth place at 106 pounds.
In action at 145 pounds, Caige Elbert lost a 4-1 decision to Parker Huebsch of St. Edmond and moved into the consolation bracket, where he pinned Kent Krager of Odeboldt-Arthur/Battle Creek-Ida Grove in 5:48. But, Elbert would be pinned by Matt Osborne of Fort Dodge in 1:40. Wrestling for fifth place, Elbert met Parker Huebsch of St. Edmond a second time, but came up short in a 9-7 decision loss to settle for sixth place.
Rounding out Emmetsburg's finishes on Saturday was Tanner Dahm at 285 pounds. Dahm earned a 2:25 win by fall over Nolan Geerdes of Central Lyon/George-Little Rock in the quarterfinals, bu tint he semi-finals, Dahm was pinned in 5:09 by Martin Espinoza of Storm Lake to drop into the Consolation brackets. Meeting Caelan Burbank of St. Edmond, Dahm was pinned in 1:17 to move into the fifth place match, where he was pinned in 1:05 by Nolan Geerdes, his first-round opponent, to finish in sixth place.
