The Titan boys of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire split a pair of games this past week on the hardwood, falling to Storm Lake St. Mary's on Tuesday but taking a big win over North Union on Friday night.
In Tuesday's game at St. Mary's, the Titans were doubled up by the Panthers, falling 82-41.
Connor Sturgill would lead the Titans with 13 points and six rebounds, while Austin Dyer added eight points and pulled down four rebounds and dished out four assists.
Marcus Girres scored six points with three boards and a pair of assists and Trevor Hagedorn added five points with six boards. Lane Reiman scored three points and had a rebound with two assists, while Andy Geelan scored three points and had three assists, with Michael Girres adding three points tot he mix. Joe Tonderum rounded out the effort with one rebound.
"Even though the score was lopsided, the boys played hard and handled Storm Lake St. Mary's pressure well,"?noted GT/RA?Head Coach Randy Hough. "St. Mary's is a very good, well balanced ball club."
On Friday night, the Titans faced off with North Union in Cornbelt Conference action and earned a satisfying, 64-26 win over the Warriors.
"Austin Dyer would lead the charge on Friday with 16 points, seven rebounds and a pair of assists, while Connor Sturgill added 15 points, six rebounds and a pair of helpers.
Mason McGrauth tallied nine points and grabbed three rebounds with a pair of assists, while Marcus Girres chipped in six points and grabbed two boards while dishing out three helpers.
Trevor Hagedorn tallied four points and collected six rebounds while dishing out an assists, while Michael Girres would score four points and grab three boards with a pair of assists to his credit.
Andy Geelan scored just three points but cleaned the glass for 10 rebounds on the night and then dished out four assists to his teammates.
Lane Reiman scored three points, had two rebounds and three assists, while Noah Stukey added two points, three boards and a pair of helpers and Joe Tonderum rounded out the effort with two points.
"The Titans got off to a fast start and were able to use the entire bench most of the night,"?noted Coach Hough. "I was very happy with our defensive intensity throughout the night. We Also did a great job of sharing the basketball."
The Titans play just once this week when they travel to Laurens on Thursday, Dec. 13, to meet the Chargers of Laurens-Marathon.
