Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks played an outstanding first half of basketball against Spencer on Tuesday night but would fall to the Tigers by a 42-20 tally. It was the second game in as many nights for Coach Anne Fiene's ballclub, with two more games to play in a busy week on the hard wood.
The Lady E-Hawks came out with some solid offensive work in the first quarter and good defense to keep Spencer off balance for the first eight minutes. Emmetsburg was able to take an 11-9 lead after the first quarter, but Spencer would regroup and start to hit some shots on their way to a 20-13 lead at the half, as the Emmetsburg offense cooled down.
The third quarter was tough offensively for both teams, as neither squad was able to get the offense really moving. Emmetsburg added just five points to their tally while the Tigers could hit just two buckets, leaving the Lady E-Hawks trailing 24-18 to start the final quarter.
Spencer found their offense in the final quarter while Emmetsburg was unable to buy a bucket, only scoring two points in the final stanza for the 44-20 defeat.
Ashton Connelly would lead Emmetsburg's effort with 11 points, while Whitney Kibbie scored four points. Alexa Naig added three points and Michaela Rehm tallied two points in the effort.
