RUTHVEN - Funeral service for Dorothy J. Rouse of Ruthven was held Monday, Dec. 24, at the United Methodist Church in Ruthven. The Rev. Roger Maize officiated.
Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery in Ruthven. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy Jeanette Rouse, daughter of Leo G. and Naomi Emily (Johnson) Rehm, was born Jan. 23, 1930, south of Silver Lake, near Ayrshire. She attended school in Ayrshire until junior high when her family moved to Ruthven. After graduating from Ruthven High School in 1947, Dorothy began working at Miller's Hamburger Shop in Spencer where she was employed until 1960.
On July 9, 1960 Dorothy was united in marriage to Marvin Rouse at the United Methodist Church in Ruthven. To this union four children were born. Dorothy worked at various jobs in the area and cared for her family. In 1985 she began working at the Ruthven-Ayrshire Community School as a cook. She worked at the school for several years.
Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ruthven where she was active in Circle. She was also a member of the Ruthven American Legion Auxiliary.
Dorothy passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at the age of 82.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ilo Gappa.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Rouse of Ruthven; her children, Tim and Patty Rouse of Ruthven, Nancy and Mark Johnson of Havelock, Stan and Tonia Rouse of Blue Hill, NE, and Ann and Joe Meyer of Milford; 10 grandchildren; and her brother, Homer (Colleen) Rehm of Ruthven.
