Titan Matmen Fall In Double Dual

GRAETTINGER - A double-dual against Spirit lake Park and Sioux Center meant a pair of setbacks on the mats for the Titan wrestlers of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire on Tuesday, Dec. 18.

Sioux Central would defeat the titans by a 51-24 tally and Spirit Lake Park earned a 72-12 win over GT/RA in their duel.

Against Sioux Center's Warriors, the Titans won four of the contested matches, starting with Austin Thompson earning a 7-6 decision over Colin Schelling in the 132 pound match.

Tyler Hoffman earned 3:27 win by fall over Austin VanHolland in action at 145 pounds and at 160, Matt McGrauth earned a 5-2 decision victory over Ko Kieft.

Rounding out the Titans' contested wins was heavyweight Cody Thompson, who scored a 3:54 win by fall over Coleten Solders.

GT/RA's Sam George received a win by forfeit at 120 pounds, but the Titans forfeited the 106, 113, 126, 138, and 220 pound matches.

The Titans' Hunter Brown was pinned in 1:26 of his 152 pound match with Dylan Van't Hof and at 170, Kodi Ferguson was pinned in 1:07 of the match by Mitchell Sandulte.

At 182 pounds, Kevin Smith lost by a fall in 5:23 to Derek Hooyer and the Titans' Kyle Long, wrestling at 195 pounds, came up short in a 9-7 decision loss to Jose Torres.

Against the Indians of Spirit Lake Park, the Titans would only receive a pair of wins by forfeits, as Austin Thompson at 132 and Cody Thompson at heavyweight were recipients of the free wins.

Spirit Lake Park would go on to win all of the contested matches in the duel.

At 126 pounds, the Titan's Sam George was pinned by Ben Parks and at 145, Tyler Hoffman was pinned by Zach Skopec.

Hunter Brown was the victim of a pin by Kenten Murray in action at 152 pounds and at 160, Matt McGrauth was pinned by David Trucksess. Kodi Ferguson was pinned by Justin Jones in the 170 pound match and Kevin Smith was pinned by Javier Tapia in the 182 pound bout. Kyle Long would also fall victim to a pin at the hands of Jacob Jenness in the 195 pound match.

The Titans would forfeit the 106, 113, 120, 138 and 220 pound matches to the Indians.

The Titans of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire will return to the mats in the new year as they host their own tournament on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013. Wrestling starts at 10 a.m. at Graettinger.
