Lifelong Emmetsburg resident Anetha Kelly passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Spencer Hospital at the age of 95.
Anetha was born Dec. 28, 1917, of Norwegian descendants, Fred and Anna (Jamna) Quam. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend.
Anetha worked many years for Upper Des Moines Opportunity, where her passion for helping others proved beneficial to hundreds of families in Iowa as she proved to be instrumental to the development of the WIC Program. She will be remembered and missed by many.
Anetha Kelly is preceded in death by her two sons: Charles and John Kelly, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Quam and grandson Ricky Kelly.
She is survived by her two sons: Robert (Marla) Kelly, of Des Moines, and Brent (Kim) Kelly of Florida; three daughters: Ann Carrigan of Spencer, Jane (Peter) Frost of Arizona, and Barbara Kelly of Florida; her devoted grandson and caregiver Mark (Kim) Carrigan. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. There will be a parish vigil service at 6:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday Jan. 19, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. Interment will follow the service at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg.
