Police Seek Public’s Aid Following December Tire Slashing Incidents

Emmetsburg Police continue to ask the public for assistance in the investigation of a series of tire slashing incidents before Christmas.

According to Emmetsburg Police Chief Eric Hanson, during the overnight hours of Saturday, Dec. 22 and Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, several acts of criminal mischief took place in Emmetsburg.

The Emmetsburg Police Department received 17 separate incident reports of vehicle tires being slashed. All of the vehicles involved in these incidents were parked outside in their respective driveways, where an unknown person or persons entered onto the property and slashed the vehicle tires with a sharp, cutting-type instrument.

Of the 17 residences where the acts of criminal mischief took place, a total of 33 tires were damaged. The estimated total amount of damage resulting from this criminal mischief is $5,800.

The Emmetsburg Police Department is continuing to offer a $500 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who were responsible for these acts of criminal mischief.
