CHEROKEE - In the final Lakes Conference contest of the season on Tuesday night, Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks came up short to Cherokee in a 39-29 final decision.
Emmetsburg would be in the thick of the contest in the first quarter, trailing 8-6 when the opening frame ended. But in the second quarter, the two teams continued to trade buckets and Emmetsburg trailed 13-15 at the intermission.
Cherokee would start to edge away from the Lady E-Hawks in the third quarter, as they would post a 27-21 lead over Emmetsburg when the third quarter came to a close. In the final quarter, Cherokee was able to stretch their lead to 10 points for a 39-29 lead and victory when the contest ended.
For Emmetsburg, Alexa Naig would tally 11 points in the effort, while Ashton Connelly was able to chip in 10 points. Michaela Rehm tallied four points in the effort while Whitney Kibbie and Hadley Egland would both score two points in the contest.
