SIOUX?RAPIDS - The post season opened and ended on the same night for Emmetsburg's E-Hawks Monday night. The E-Hawks saw their season end in a 43-32 loss to the Rebels of Sioux Central, giving Emmetsburg a final season mark of 5-17.
Monday's Class 2A District tourney opener was a rematch of game earlier in the season that Emmetsburg had won handily over the Rebels, but there would be no repeat of that feat.
The E-Hawks suffered from cold shooting all night long, as did the Rebels in the first quarter, with Sioux Central holding a 9-5 lead to start the second quarter.
The two squads would trade buckets, but it was the Rebels getting the slim advantage with a 22-17 lead at the intermission.
Emmetsburg's shooting woes came to a head in the third quarter, as they could only manage five points, while the Rebels took a 30-22 advantage to start the final quarter of play.
The E-Hawks would battle to the end, but would not be able to overtake the Rebels to fall by the 43-32 final score.
Senior Jake Jackson led Emmetsburg with 13 points in his final prep contest for the E-Hawks, while Michael Pugh added eight tallies to the effort. Austin Krause scored four points, while Mike Myers and Brandon Elbert both came away with three points each to the coffers Erik Drost would round out the effort with a free throw.
