William F. Mundus 1928-2013

A Mass of Christian Burial for William F. Mundus of Emmetsburg will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 14, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The Rev. Clem Currans is the celebrant.

Interment will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg is in charge.

William Frank Mundus, son of Leo and Anna (Berka) Mundus was born Oct. 22, 1928 in Spencer. He began his education in country school and graduated from Emmetsburg Catholic High School in 1948. Following high school, Bill began farming with his father.

In 1952 he was inducted into the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Bill was honorably discharged in 1954 and returned to Palo Alto County where he continued farming.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #2295.

Bill enjoyed farming and collecting antique tractors. Bill retired from farming in 2007.

Bill passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Emmetsburg Care Center at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Louise Meiners and Barb Culver; a brother, Bernard Mundus; brothers-in-law, Frank Meiners, Kenny Culver and Stanley Johnson.

He is survived by four brothers, George (Betty) Mundus of Spencer, Frank (Karen) Mundus of Spencer, Larry Mundus of Tulsa, OK, and Leo (Wendy) Mundus of Emmetsburg; two sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Ft. Dodge, and Sharon Mundus of Mason City; several nieces and nephews.
