Hagen Comes Up Short In Lakes Matchup

April 18, 2013
Emmetsburg News

ESTHERVILLE?- Emmetsburg's Bailey Hagen gave a solid effort on the court Tuesday evening but came up short in tennis action against LeMars. Hagen, a senior at EHS, is playing tennis again this season with the Estherville Lincoln Central girls tennis team.

ELC struggled on Tuesday night in a 9-0 shutout loss to LeMars.

"It was a rough night against a quality opponent," said Estherville Lincoln Central Head Coach Larry Kirchner. "Our weaknesses were exposed and a good team will take advantage of those."

ELC's top singles player Bailey Hagen did have some good moments against Carolyn Ahlers, but Kirchner said Ahlers is perhaps the top singles player in the conference. Hagen lost the match by a 10-3 score.

In doubles matches, Hagen and teammate Maddy Burns lost a 10-1 match to Carolyn and Emily Ahlers.

Estherville Lincoln Central's Tennis team is scheduled to travel to Spencer to take on the Tigers this evening (Thursday), weather permitting.
