Nursing home residents nationwide will be celebrating National Nursing Home Week, May 12-18. Theme for the week-long observation is "Team Care:?Everyone Pitches In!"
In observance of the special week, Emmetsburg Mayor Myrna Heddinger signed a proclamation, encouraging everyone in the community to visit their loved one, friend or neighbor currently residing in a skilled nursing care center to show respect for all that they have given to society.
Special days are planned throughout the week, May 13-17, at the Emmetsburg Care Center:

Monday, May 13, is Carnival Day with bottle ring toss, ping pong toss and popcorn. Residents will participate in dress like a clown contest.
Tuesday, May 14, is Glamour Day when all the ladies will have their nails, makeup and hair done for Glamour Shots.
Wednesday, May 15, is Country Western Day, including Country Breakfast, Country Games and Square Dance. Entertainment is provided by Jay and Judy.
Thursday, May 16, is Strawberry Day. Residents will have Bible study, strawberry craft and dress up in strawberry attire or wear something red.
A Tea Party will be held Friday, May 17, with tea and coffee tasting. Nathan Clark will present a program on tea. Special guests are the Red Hat ladies.
The public is invited to attend all of the events during the week while they visit with residents at the center.
