Residents of PARC Hall in Emmetsburg will be celebrating National Nursing Home Week with a variety of activities, according to Becky Jackson. National Nursing Home Week is observed May 12-18.
The week will kick off Sunday, May 12, with a Mother's Day Open House for residents and their families. Families will gather between 2 and 4 p.m. and have the opportunity for a family photo to be taken. Refreshments will be served.
PARC Hall residents are getting ready to plant their patio garden. Monday at 1:30 p.m. residents will plant onions, radishes and tomatoes, plus a few flowers, in the planter outside the dining room.
Tuesday, May 14, the residents will enjoy special Bingo games. Whoever wins the most Bingo games will receive an extra prize. Tuesday is also "Hat Day." Residents can bring in and wear their favorite hat.
PARC Hall residents will enjoy a special grill-out supper on Wednesday, May 15. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be grilled for the evening meal.
A sack auction, the residents' favorite activity, will be held Thursday, May 16. Residents will be given scrip money to bid for a sack containing an unknown object. Since the content of the sacks is not known, someone could bid big bucks for a banana.
PARC Hall Goodie Day is Thursday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The PARC Hall staff will prepare goodies for the entire Palo Alto County Health System staff. Everyone will visit PARC Hall to enjoy treats and visit with the residents.
The busy week will conclude with spa day on Friday, May 17. All of the residents, men and women, can enjoy a little pampering after such a busy week. The men might enjoy a light massage and the ladies can get their nails done. It will be a relaxing day for everyone.
In addition to the activities planned for National Nursing Home Week, several PARC Hall residents will be celebrating birthdays.
