On April 22-23, 19 outstanding members of the Emmetsburg FFA Chapter attended the 85th Annual Iowa FFA State Leadership Conference. This year's conference was held in Ames on the Iowa State University campus.
Members from the Emmetsburg chapter were busy attending workshops and Career Development Events, observing Chapter Displays, touring the Iowa State campus and getting to know other members from across the state of Iowa. A couple of the Emmetsburg chapter members participated in Career Development Events (CDE).
Katie Grandstaff was one of the top 12 FFA students in the state within the Agricultural Sales CDE. She received a silver at State and represented Emmetsburg Schools and FFA well. Kyle Kassel and Nick Grandstaff also competed in the Greenhand Quiz CDE. Grandstaff was in the top 20 of over 250 students and was given a gold. Kassel also did well and received silver.
STATE FFA DEGREE – Four senior members of the Emmetsburg FFA chapter received their State FFA Degree at the State Leadership Conference this year. The State FFA degree is the highest degree one can earn. FFA advisor, Randy Nosbisch, is pictured with degree recipients, Megan Heisler, Joel Kibbie, Hayley Bishop and Mollie Walker.
Emmetsburg FFA entered a Chapter Display, which presented a chapter activity that was conducted during the past year. This year the Emmetsburg FFA chapter received silver on their display. During the Convention the Emmetsburg FFA chapter got involved with packing meals for the Heartland. As a chapter they packaged 19 boxes, which included 36 meals per box.
The highlight of this year's State Leadership Conference was when four outstanding senior members of the Emmetsburg FFA chapter received the highest degree the State of Iowa can bestow-the State FFA Degree. The four members receiving this special award were Hayley Bishop, Joel Kibbie, Mollie Walker and Megan Heisler.
