Funeral service for Etta Buntrock was Wednesday, May 15, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg was in charge of arrangements.
Etta B. Buntrock was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Spring Valley, MN, the daughter of Dwain and Mabel (Drinkall) Tenney. She was a graduate of Cresco High School.
On Sept. 16, 1950, Etta was united in marriage to Virgil Buntrock in Cresco. The couple made their home in Cresco where they raised their children. Etta worked for 35 years at J.C. Penney in Iowa, Colorado and California.
Etta was a charter member of the Cimota Club in Cresco. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. Etta enjoyed making family photo albums, working crossword puzzles to stay sharp, and being around people. When raising her children, she would often make their clothes, doll clothes, Easter outfits and Halloween costumes. She had a creative spirit.
On Saturday, May 11, 2013, Etta passed away at the Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Patricia and her husband, Gerald Theesfeld of Emmetsburg, James Buntrock and his wife, Jan of Littleton, CO, Karyn Davis of Emmetsburg, Ronald Buntrock of Emmetsburg and Denise Kirkwood of St. Louis, MO; brother, Clyde Tenney; sister, Thelma Lick; 13 grandchildren: Joseph Coffey, David, Daniel, Donald, Denise, Donna and Dennis Theesfeld; Diane (Thees- feld) Meseck; T.J. Davis; Michael Buntrock; Tawnya, Erin and Danielle Anderson; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dale; infant son, Virgil, Jr.; two sisters and two brothers.
