PETERSON - An ice cold bath and cheers signified the 300th Career Coaching victory for Emmetsburg Baseball Coach Mike Brennan on Tuesday night. Brennan's E-Hawks exploded for 11 runs in the fourth inning to take a 17-2 victory over Sioux Central for the momentous victory.

"This was a great night," Brennan said after his players emptied their water cooler on him at the end of the game. "i've been fortunate to coach a lot of good kids and teams over the years and I owe this to all of them."

In the first inning, Emmetsburg went down in order, as Sioux Central pushed two runs over the plate in their half of the inning off a pair of runs and two E-Hawk errors to take a 2-0 lead. Emmetsburg came back in the top of the second and got a single from Joe Jackson that was followed by a walk of Taylor Wegner before Zach Anderson reached on an error that scored Jackson's run, but the E-Hawks would strand a pair to end their opportunity. Sioux Central would go down in order to end the second inning.

Trailing 2-1 to start the third inning, Emmetsburg started their comeback. Aaron Bird was hit by a pitch and Luke Jackson was walked before Jake Jackson singled. A walk of Greg Wesley allowed Bird to come home on a passed ball. Two outs followed before Zach Anderson doubled to score Joe Jackson, Greg Wesley and Taylor Wegner. Jake Kibbie reached on an error before Dillon VanOosbree singled to score Anderson before the E-Hawks were retired with a 6-2 lead.

Sioux Central would be struck out in order by Jake Jackson in the bottom of the third to set up the fourth inning.

Holding a 6-2 lead, the floodgates opened for the E-Hawks as they sent 15 batters to the plate in their half of the inning. Luke Jackson led off with a single and scored off a double from Jake Jackson. A single from Greg Wesley scored Jake Jackson and a single from Joe Jackson was followed by Taylor Wegner getting on base off an error, that allowed Greg Wesley to score his run.

Zach Anderson got on off an error that allowed Joe Jackson to come home and Jake Kibbie singled to score Wegner for an 11-2 lead with no outs. Dillon VanOosbree drew a walk and Aaron Bird doubled to score Zach Anderson and Jake Kibbie as the E-Hawks started their second pass through the order.

Luke Jackson sacrificed to score VanOosbree before Jake Jackson doubled again to score Bird. Greg Wesley reached on an error before Joe Jackson hit a sac fly to score Jake Jackson for a 16-2 tally with two outs.

Taylor Wegner stepped up and delivered a single to score Greg Wesley's run, but the magic ended when Zach Anderson grounded out to end the at-bat.

Sioux Central had an insurmountable climb in the bottom of the fourth, but they refuse to give up. After a quick strikeout, an error put a runner on base before a ground out moved the runner to second. A steal of third left the Rebels with a run waiting to come home, but a fly ball to Zach Anderson in right field ended the game by the 15-run rule in four innings.

For Emmetsburg, Jake Jackson went the distance, as he threw four innings and surrendered two unearned runs off two hits, with six strikeouts.

For the E-Hawks, Jake Jackson had two doubles and a base hit, while Aaron Bird had a double. Joe Jackson and Taylor Wegner both added a pair of base hits, while Luke Jackson, Greg Wesley, Zach Anderson, Jake Kibbie and Dillon VanOosbree all added singles to the effort.
