America's independence will be celebrated just one week from today. Fun on the Fourth includes games and gatherings at Soper Park in Emmetsburg. Sign up now to be part of the fun.
The day begins with Big Wheel and Tricycle races at 9 a.m., hosted by members of VFW Post #2295. Water balloon toss and foot races will follow.
FUEL?Emmetsburg is hosting a Sand Volleyball Tournament. Play begins at 10 a.m. in the park. Six-person coed teams are invited to participate; at least half the players on the court must be female. A maximum of eight teams will be accepted. Entry fee is $30 per team; 100% payback.

Independence Day Bags Tournament, also sponsored by FUEL Emmetsburg, begins at 10 a.m. Two-member teams will get four bean bags to throw to the opposite end. Points are scored when a player has a bag on the board or in the hole. Individuals without a teammate will be assigned one on the Fourth. Cost is $5 per player. Palo Alto county Peace Officers Association will host a Co-Ed Kick Ball Tournament, starting at 9 a.m. at the Field of Dreams Athletic Complex, south Emmetsburg, on the Fourth of July.
All athletes must be 14 years of age or older. Team registration is due by July 1, at $100 per team. Cash prizes will be awarded. Concessions will be available throughout the day.
