STORM LAKE Emmetsburg's Lady E-Hawks earned a 1-3 mark playing in Saturday's Storm Lake Classic Softball Tournament. Emmetsburg lost to Woobury Central before rebounding with a win over Alta-Aurelia but was shut out by Akron-Westfield to end a six-day stretch of play with an overall mark of 10-19.

Against Woodbury Central, Emmetsburg came up short in a 3-0 decision. The Lady E-Hawks couldn't get an offense going in the contest, as they were limited to just four hits, including a double by Emily Noll and singles from Whitney Kibbie, Jacque Carlson and Ashton Connelly.

Ashton Connelly would take the loss in the circle, surrendering three runs, two earned, off six hits with two walks and four strikeouts in six innings of work.

The Lady E-Hawks bounced back to take a 6-4 win over Alta-Aurelia after a home run tied the game up in the sixth inning.

It took a while for Emmetsburg to find their bats, but in the fourth inning, Miranda Vlasman and Emily Noll scored runs. Whitney Kibbie would cross the plate in the fifth inning and in the sixth, Michaela Rehm ripped a home run shot to tie the game up at 4-4. Alta-Aurelia couldn't answer in the bottom of the inning to set up the seventh.

The Lady E-Hawks kept the bats hot in the top of the seventh, as Whitney Kibbie would score a run and Jacque Carlson added the insurance run to make the score 6-4, before the defense stopped the Warriors cold for the win.

Hali Noll got the win, as she went seven innings and gave up four runs off six hits, while issuing two walks.

The Lady E-Hawks got two singles from Whitney Kibbie, while Miranda Vlasman ripped a triple. Emily Noll, Jacque Carlson and Alexa Naig all added base hits to the winning effort.

However, Emmetsburg's luck would run out in the final matchup of the day against Akron-Westfield, who shut Emmetsburg out by a 10-0 tally in five innings.

The Lady E-Hawks were held to three hits, including a double from Alexa Naig and singles from Michaela Rehm and Jacque Carlson. Ashton Connelly was tagged with the loss, as she pitched five innings, allowing 10 runs, four earned, off 10 hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
