Storm Drain Stenciling Project Next Week

July 11, 2013
Emmetsburg News

Emmetsburg residents living in the lake area are invited to assist with The Ruby Raindrop Project next week. The project discusses the importance of water in our everyday lives.

This project is usually done with third grade students from?West Elementary School. However, due to weather complications this year, the project could not be completed with the school.

The Palo Alto Soil & Water Conservation District and the Palo Alto County Conservation Board are hosting the event to continue the tradition. The public is invited to participate, to keep the lake clean.

To complete this project, two teams will be formed to stencil a clean water message on the storm drains that lead straight into Five Island Lake. This project is not limited to adults, but teens and children are invited to help as well. Please wear appropriate attire due to the fact that paint will be used. All supplies will be provided at the time of stenciling by the Palo Alto Soil & Water Conservation District and Palo Alto County Conservation Board.

Residents interested in participating in the storm drain stenciling project are invited to meet at Soper ?Park on Wednesday, July 17, at 6:30 p.m. For additional information about the project, contact the Palo Alto Soil & Water Conservation District at 712-852-3386, ext. 3.
