Lady E-Hawks Earn All Lakes Conference Honors

Several members of the Emmetsburg Lady E-Hawk Softball Team earned post-season recognition with their selection to the 2013 Lakes Conference All Conference Softball Teams.?Selections were made through balloting by the leagues coaches at the end of the season.

Earning recognition for Emmetsburg were senior Miranda Vlasman and Sophomore Michaela Rehm on the Second Team All Conference, along with Senior Whitney Kibbie and Sophomore Ashton Connelly earning Honorable Mention recognition.

Senior Miranda Vlasman was named catcher of the Lakes Conference Second Team for 2013. Vlasman batted .203 on the season with 16 singles, two doubles, a triple and two Home Runs and14 RBI's with five sacrifices in her 79 opportunities at the plate. That translates into an on-base percentage of .315 and a .329 slugging percentage.

Defensively, Vlasman made 153 catches behind the plate and made 132 put-outs, a fielding percentage of .980.

Named as a Second Team Outfielder, Michaela Rehm held down the duties in center field for the Lady E-Hawks during the 2013 season. The sophomore batted .304, hitting 23 singles, six doubles, a triple and two Home Runs to amass 14 RBI's with one sacrifice in79 at-bats. That gives Rehm an on-base percentage of .360 and a .481 slugging percentage.Defensively, Rehm made 32 catches for a total of 24 put outs, a fielding percentage of .875.

Senior Whitney Kibbie was accorded Honorable Mention honors for her play in the infield. For Emmetsburg, Kibbie saw action at Second base, Third Base and Shortstop positions during the season. Kibbie amassed a .316 batting average, coming away with 30 singles and four doubles for a quartet of RBI's with one sacrifice. That gave Kibbie an on-base percentage of .398 and .358 slugging percentage. On defense, Kibbie made 95 catches in the infield, and collected 30 put-outs in the process, a fielding percentage of .874.

Rounding out Emmetsburg's honorees for the season was sophomore pitcher Ashton Connelly. Connelly would pitch in 19 contests and earned a record of 7-13 in 130 innings of work. Connelly allowed 142 hits with 48 earned runs for an ERA of 2.58 against 570 batters. Connelly threw 106 strikeouts and gave up 23 walks.

Connelly would lead the Lady E-Hawk in hitting, batting .340 with 18 singles and four doubles for five RBI's, an on-base percentage of .462 and a slugging percentage of .415. Fielding, Connelly made 153 catches for 132 put-outs, a fielding percentage of .980.
