Emmetsburg High School Vocal Music students and their parents are kicking off their annual Value Card fundraising event.
This year's fundraiser will feature brand new Value Cards, created and prepared by the Emmetsburg Vocal Music Booster Organization. The new Value Cards involving 42 of local businesses.
This year, all of the proceeds of the sales will go to the Emmetsburg students - 100% - no money is going out of town this year to a professional fund raising company. For a small fee, a Vocal Value Card will provide the purchaser with over $3000 in merchandise, if they use every offer contained on the value card.
"These cards are a huge improvement from past years and we encourage the public to support the EHS Vocal Music students in this fundraising effort," noted Dave Fog, EHS Vocal Music Instructor. "All of the money earned through the sales of these cards will go personally to the student who sells the value card, and that amount will be deducted from the total amount owed for their spring performance tour to Orlando."
This school year, the EHS Concert Choir, Womens Chorus and Mens Chorus, along with the EHS Concert Band will travel to Orlando in April for their performance tour. The cost of the four-day tour, flight to and from Orlando, admissions and meals on site will be $1,089 per student.
The Emmetsburg Vocal Music Boosters and Emmetsburg Band Boosters will provide monetary scholarships to each student to assist in reducing the overall cost for each student, but each music student will still need support to make the trip affordable to all group members.
"All vocal students will have Value Cards available for sale. If you are not contacted and would like to purchase a card, just let a student or parent know and arrangements will be made," Fog added. "And, we want to give a special thanks to all the local businesses for their generous support of our schools music programs and to the community!"
