Paul W. Freeman was born Aug. 21, 1937 in Estherville to Paul F. and Wilda (Thomson) Freeman. Paul graduated from Cylinder High School in 1955 and later enlisted in the Iowa National Guard. He was united in marriage to Nancy Fisher on Feb. 15, 1974.
He enjoyed serving the community in the family owned Cylinder State Bank until his retirement in 1998. Paul and Nancy enjoyed traveling in their motor home, hunting, fishing, and spent countless hours at their grandchildren's activities. Most of all, Paul loved and cherished being with his family.
Paul passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013.
Paul is survived by his wife Nancy; children: Jody (Dan) Zarnowiec, Lori Hildreth, Anne (Greg) Sween, Jeff Madsen, Kristen (Gerard) Ruiz, and Paul K. (Sheri) Freeman; grandchildren: Jennifer Weisselberg, Lauren Mirza, Danielle Zarnowiec; Haley Hildreth; Zachary Freeman, Kelsie and McKenzie Sween; Katie, Natalie and Gerard Ruiz; Paul Clayton, Allison, and Seth Freeman; and eight great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his sisters Donna (Roger) Jensen and Margie (Arnold) Cody; his brother Bob (Stephanie) Freeman; his sisters-in-law Patty (Jerry) Solberg and Shirlee Chitwood.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents. Paul and Wilda Freeman; father-in-law and mother-in-law. Arnold and Evelyn Fisher; and brother-in-law Jim Fisher.
Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg.
