HULL - Emmetsburg's Freshman E-Hawk football team claimed a hard-fought 20-8 victory over the Wolfpack of Western Christian on Monday, Sept. 30 at Hull.
Much like their varsity counterparts three-nights earlier, Coach Tyler Beving's E-Hawks found themselves trailing Western Christian 8-0 at the end of the first quarter of play.
However, Emmetsburg came back in the second quarter as quarterback Will Schany would come up with a two-yard run and the two-point conversion tied the game up at 8-8 at the intermission.
In the second half of play, the E-Hawk defense came to life and shut Western Christian down, while the offense turned to Thomas Schultes for the scoring. With some great blocking, Schultes would score a 22-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to take a 14-8 lead and in the final fram, Schultes would plunge into the end zone from a yard out for the 20-8 final margin of victory.
The offense would be paced by Schultes as he rushed for 212 yards in the victory.
Emmetsburg's defense was led by Grant Deitering with five tackles and Brent Wesley with five tackles. Additionally, Jason Huang and Phil Manz both recorded quarterback sacks in the victorious effort.
