WALKER, MN -- Robert Franklin Freeman, 67, of Walker, MN, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at his residence.

Bob was born March 10, 1946 in Estherville to Paul and Wilda (Thomson) Freeman. He graduated from Cylinder High School in 1964. He attended college at Upper Iowa and Arizona State before returning home to raise his family and work with his father and brother at the Cylinder State Bank serving nearly 30 years in the third generation of family ownership.

Bob was united in marriage to his beloved Stephanie on April 7, 1990. After taking numerous fishing trips to northern Minnesota and Canada during their marriage, Bob and Steph started a new permanent chapter 'Up North' moving to Walker in 2000.

Bob was a devoted family man, with a never wavering commitment to his wife, children, and grandchildren. Through good times and bad, Bob was always there to help his family in any way that he could. He loved taking his grandchildren tubing and teaching them to fish, while driving and flying endless hours to attend their activities.

Bob was a committed outdoorsman, with a lifelong passion for fishing and hunting. He 'guided' his boat for friends and family and would always state 'you are only as good as your guide'.

His Christian Faith, church, and church family were also of the upmost importance to him. He made a difference in the lives of others through friendships, volunteering, and living by the golden rule of 'doing what is right'. Other special tenants of Bob include: his signature 'madbomber' hat every winter, endless games of cards especially 'pitch', a perfectly maintained and 'skunk free' yard, Iowa State decals on his always spotless vehicles, and absolutely no dirty dishes in the sink ever.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Wilda Freeman; brother, Paul Freeman; and his father-in-law, Stuart Currie.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; daughters, Robin (Kevin) Jackson, Andrea Jackson and Brette (Lamonte) Jefferson; sons, Daniel (Theresa) Etler and David (April) Etler; 13 grandchildren, Cole, Bailee, Trinity, Brynn, and Kira Jackson, Kylie, Chloe and Nate Jackson, Claira Jefferson, Madeline and Mason Etler, Emma and Austin Etler; sisters, Donna (Roger) Jensen, Margie (Arnold) Cody; sister-in-law, Nancy Freeman; brothers-in-law, Douglas (Mitzi) Currie and John (Laurie) Currie; and mother-in-law, Olympia Currie.
