HULL - It all came down to defense with :03 to go in Saturday's Class 1A District semi-final game at Hull. But with great pressure and a little luck, Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire's Titans earned a 62-61 win over George-Little Rock.
Next up for the Titans will be the District title game tonight (Tuesday) at Sheldon against the Comets of Boyden-Hull.
The Titans came out ready to play on Saturday night, after the game was postponed from Thursday night due to weather concerns. GT/RA wasted little time in setting the tempo of the game and taking a 17-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Titans would continue to pace the contest in the second quarter, outscoring the Mustangs by a 24-18 margin to take a comfortable 41-29 lead at the half-time intermission.

But in the second half, George-Little Rock came out of the lockerroom with renewed spirit and began chipping away at the Titans' lead. GT/RA's shooting went cold early in the quarter, as G-LR cut away at the lead to narrow the lead to a point, 48-47, to start the final quarter.
For the first 2:00 of the final quarter, nothing would fall for the Titans, but with 5:50 to go, a three ball by Andy Geelan jumpstarted the Titans' offense, as they now trailed 55-51. The deficit would grow to six points for the Titans, but they fought back, answering the Mustangs shot for shot, and then began going to the free throw line as the final seconds began to wind down. The Titans would finally regain the lead with 1:49 to go in the contest at 60-59 after a pair of free throws by Geelan.
A bucket by the Mustangs would give them the lead back at 61-60 with :29 to play, but a jumper by Connor Sturgill will :10 to play put the Titans on top, 62-61.
George-Little Rock took a time out to set up the final play, and worked the ball down to :03, when a three point shot from the corner rolled along the rim and then fell off. A put back try went up as the buzzer sounded and fell away as the Titans celebrated their win.
GT/RA was led by Connor Sturgill's 19 points, while Andy Geelan added 17 points. Noah Stukey scored 13 points, with Lane Reiman adding six points to the effort. Taylor Enderson scored three points, while Mason McGrauth and Nick Josephson both scored two points each in the win.
